PHOTOSYNTHESIS
RELEASED OXYGEN
Objective :
To know the result of photosynthesis.
Plants are
autotrophic organism which they can produce their own food for energy through
photosynthesis. Photosynthesis has many advantages; one of the advantages is
produce oxygen as a photosynthesis product.
produce oxygen as a photosynthesis product.
Our next activity is having an experiment to
maintain oxygen from plant. This experiment is called Ingenhouz Experiment.
The materials are:
-
Hydrilla
verticillata -
Reaction tube
-
Beaker glass/ plastic bowl - Stone
-
Glass funnel -
Water
The steps are below:
1. I put off
the Hydrilla sp in the base of
plastic bowl that filled with water.
2. Then I
cover the Hydrilla sp with glass
funnel, then I put the glass funnel on the stone.
3. I fulfill
the reaction tube with water, and then I put it on the funnel. I do it
carefully so that no bubble produced inside the tube.
4. Then I
placed the experiment set in sunshine. I’m waiting about 30 minutes. Then I
observe the tube carefully. What will happen?
Answer: In
the tip of Hydrilla sp stem appears
bubbles that raise to the top of reaction tube.
5. After there
are some gases produces, I lift the tube and I close the tube with my thumb
immediately.
6. I open the
tube by lift my thumb, then I ask my friend to get close the flaming matches to
the tube.
7. What will
happen to the ember?
Answer: The
ember will be bigger.
ANALYSIS
1. Explain it where does the bubble gas
in the tube come from!
2. Why the experiment set must be placed
in sunshine location? If the set placed in dark area, what will happen?
3. What kind of gas that contain in the
bubble?
4. Make conclusion!
ANSWER
1. The bubbles come from the tip of Hydrilla sp stem.
2. The experiment set must be placed in
sunshine location because photosynthesis process needs sunshine for energy
source of the photosynthesis process. And if the set placed in dark area, the Hydrilla sp can’t do photosynthesis
process as well because there are no enough sunshine.
3. Oxygen (O2)
4. Photosynthesis process released
Oxygen.
